FIREPROOF!

On Thursday night I watched the new movie, "Fireproof" at a local theatre. Starring Kirk Cameron, (Mike Seaver from "Growing Pains"), this movie is both amazing and heartwarming affirming the covenant of marriage and what it takes for two people to do marriage God's way.

Although I am not married now, I urge everyone to take the time with your spouse to see this movie.  It is an incredible display of perseverence, and unconditional love.  I have been encouraged as a single person and without giving too much away I left the theatre with these thoughts.

1) You never leave your partner. Especially in a fire.

2) How do you love someone who constantly rejects you? (well, Jesus did) and ...

3) Unconditional love unspoken but demonstrated in action leaves the indelible mark of a heart solely trusting in God.

You will cry and smile and finally rejoice when God gets the victory. Enjoy!

Barbara - I haven't seen this movie yet, but I really want to.  I've heard a lot of good things about it...  :)

I haven't seen it yet, but I will. I have heard a lot of good things about this one and the other one that they produced...was it Facing the Giants? We should see it, if for no other reason than to support wholesome programming at the theaters.

Nice music video. Thanx for posting it.

Barbara,

I am waiting too,( for mr. right) and went to see it with some frieinds a few weeks ago. I think so much of it could apply to all of our relationships. It helped me to forgive someone who hurt me. :)  Great movie!!!

I would like to see the movie, but I don't think I could talk my hubby into it. Maybe when it's on video?
Encouragement for you single gals: I married my husband at 34. I had about given up on anybody being "right", and wasn't being faithful, but God put us together in spite of that. We've been married 23 years, raised two good sons, and still love each other and have a fun relationship now that the kids are gone. God has a way of working things out.
I like the comment about "never leave your partner". When my kids were little I remember seeing a news story about a fire, and part of the family got out, but a couple of kids didn't. I said to my husband "I'd get the kids out or I'd die trying". I didn't mean it as criticism of the people on the news, or as bragging that I'm brave (I'm not). Just that some things you do, because you have to do them.

Hi Christina: I understand and agree that even as singles we can learn wonderful lessons from it. I used to think that waiting on the Lord meant waiting, as in time; if you will.  Rather, waiting on Him now has new meaning for me. It involves serving and focusing on the God, giving to Him what He requires of us -- our heart and devotion. Thanks for stopping by and for your comments too. GBU! Barbara :)

Hi Barbara,

Jessie-Joy and I saw Fireproof yesterday afternoon.  Well being the tough old guy that I am, I had tears in my eyes and joy in my heart.  Moving, strong, powerful, and well acted.  I will be getting several copies of hte video when it comes out to pass around to some of my unsaved friends.  Plus looks like there is going to be a workbook (manual).   Once again it made me realize that my wife is my best blessing.

Hi Gary: Thanks for your comments. What a great idea. The manual is out in christian bookstores already and many churches are utilizing the video in teaching seminars. GBU! Barbara

Hi Barbara,

It was an incredible movie and that whole John Waller CD "The Blessing" is an awesome CD. It's a must have. And that movie was very hard for me to watch, it was like watching my own life play out on screen. I don't think I've shed so many tears at a movie as this one and Facing the Giants combined!!! So much for my macho image!

It also looks like others are starting to see the benefit in putting out good Christian films... check this out...

I am going to plan a special date night for me and my hubby to go see this.

I have a friend who I go to church with that died in a fire last year with her 2 children. I cannot imagine how I would feel. I know my life is nothing without God's grace and my family. I cannot imagine living without any of these elements. They are the ingredients that are required to make my life complete. May God Bless us all and teach us to be patient and understanding with one another.

Hi Barbara, Better late than never. My husband and I both watched the movie 3 times. We both really enjoyed it. I am so thankful that when I wanted to leave him by himself in the fire, God stepped in and changed my mind and heart. Our marriage is going on 20 years, December 24, and we have 3 beautiful children. I am thankful how God works things out for our good. God Bless my Sister.
