What About God?

My favorite thing to do during my daily 2 mile walk is communicate with God.  1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to "pray without ceasing" so every opportunity I have in my day I talk with the Lord.  When I share my heart with Him I'm letting God know how much I trust Him and depend upon Him.  Just today I was telling Him what a beautiful life I have.  I said, "Lord, my life is so wonderful and so beautiful, I couldn't imagine anything better" -- expect perhaps having a husband and a pint of sticky-toffee pudding ice cream in my freezer. :)

If people would add up all the time they spend communicating with others, including the hours they share gossip, drama and non-sensical ranting not to mention the give and take of issues that do not even relate to our heavenly Father, can you imagine what kind of dynamic relationship they would have today with God if they gave Him even half of that time?

It can take months of daily interaction with someone just to truly come to know that person.  Hurray for the dating world!  But what about God... not Bob?

The Creator of the Universe gets a few prayers on Sunday, some thanks before a meal and a lot of "911" calls when life gets tough.  How sad and how pointless for Believers to miss the mark on this one.

When we look at Jesus, we see the perfect example of "praying without ceasing."  Jesus sought true fellowship with God through prayer with everything and did absolutely nothing on His own.  By this He gained wisdom, power and revelation needed to carry out the Father's will.  As a result He was able to represent God perfectly to all people He encountered.

What about you?  Is it your heart's desire to be an example of Jesus to those you meet or do you still have people wondering whose company you are keeping?  Folks, prayer isn't rocket science, really.  True prayer is simply communicating with God and His Word -- on His terms [according to His will].

By daily communing with the Lord you will gain a heart to heart and face to face [spiritually] encounter with God.  Abiding in this place of prayer grants you access to the 'inner chamber' -- the secret place of God's Presence.  Trust me, when you're walking past two lightly chained pit bulls at dusk, you'll be glad He's right by your side.

I WILL GROW UP... PROMISE!!

Only in this place of abiding, will Believers begin to see the amazing and almost incomprehensible things of God.

I know God has a plan for me, if I'd only get out of his way.

Thanks

Barbara,

It is really encouraging to hear a female speak the words that are in my heart about prayer.  I used to think that people like us should be seeking a professional vocation as a priest or a nun.  After realizing that I could never achieve that goal, and getting married and having three amazing sons, I am realizing that we just need to let others like us know that it is ok to feel the way we do.  Keep it up, you rock...God Bless...Jason

Hi Jason:  The Lord absolutely loves communing with His children through prayer and what a privilege it is to be in His Presence in the process.  As I teach my 13 yr old son to "call upon the Lord" in all things, God proves Himself faithful over and over again to answer him.

Along with love, what a legacy we can leave our children when we teach them to, "pray without ceasing." Thanks for your thoughts and posting to the group and welcome to "the secret place!"  God bless you brother!  Barbara

Dear Barbara, In reading your post I was inspired to share that you have a Husband :) His hebrew name is - ISH - God is the Husband of his people! reflect on Hosea  2:16, 19-20 and Isaiah 54:5-8 and Isaiah 62:4-5.

He will reveal his plan for your prayers, your faith is great!

Sincerely,

Grace

Hi Grace:  Thank you for sharing what is most true -- He is our Husband!   Sometimes I enjoy the wait then other times I'm really impatient because of the Kingdom work that needs to be done.

For me, it involves a helpmate.  I know the birth of a new church when this union takes place is coming as well.  In fact, I received the name of it yesterday from God during my bible study. God rocks!

But until such a time I'm quite content and thankful He's got my back in this area. God bless you!  Barbara

True communion with God is the closest we can come to paradise on Earth, because it is the closest that we are able to get to God, and being close to God is Bliss.  What an interesting way of setting aside time for prayer you have...that 2 mile walk must be a great chance to turn the volume down on the banalities of your every day life, and really must help you put things into perspective.

Great Post Barbara, as usual

Hi Jon:   Thank you for posting to the group.  I appreicate your point of view as well.

Intimacy with God is the closest we get to Him -- prayer can catapult one there.  My life is far from banal though rather, it's always fresh with something new happening everyday!  I never lose perspective because my focus remains on Him constantly.  Yippee!

Take 30 minutes every day just to quiet yourself before Him -- it a great way to learn to enter into His Presence.  God bless you!  Barbara

Aloha Barbara....I just wrote you a very long email...................hope you dont mind....

But about my problem i wrote you about....may i have to continue again to "pray without ceasing." I was doing that for many months and then i started talking to someone that was unhealthy for me to communicate with....she is very revenegful, and hurtful and full of hate.....and i totally stopped praying constantly....which i usually do....so....now im all distraught and a bit confused and a bit depressed....i know i should get into the groove again and pray without ceasing.......thanks for always having the perfect words .......aloha

Lisa:  Thank you for sharing your heart with me.  I received your email and I'm in the process of answering it.

One thing I want you to settle clearly in your spirit is that God loves you.  I know those words are quite simple in our humanness but my goodness, they are probably the most powerful words -- words that change people and words that have the ability to change nations.... when the fullness of His love is realized.

I am here for you 24/7 because I love the Lord and I love you.  Go out today with eyes of expectation and the knowledge that He knows your concerns, sees your tears and earnestly desires to answer your prayers.

Find rest in Him Lisa -- in quietness and trust. Barbara :)
