What's In Your Love Tank?

Today during a walk around my neighborhhod with a friend, we talked about how our personal lives get so busy.  Whether in business or ministry or both, our lives continually feed into the lives of others.  If we aren't careful we can overextend oursleves, even to the point of burnout.

As Believers we are called to walk in God's love.  Let me put it another way.  Love requires selfless giving.  It demands of ourselves, the ability to nurture and nourish the lives of others.  Jesus always walked in love by giving of Himself to people without regard as to whether or not His dinner would be cold when He arrived home.

The ability to store our personal tanks with a healthy supply of love is in direct proportion to our willingness to allow God to fill it up.

Our ability as Believers in Christ Jesus to step out in love every single day comes only through abiding in His Presence.  Sometimes that requires a closer look at ourself to correct anything that might be displeasing to Him.  Or it may suggest that we are getting too busy to find quiet time with God.  Regardless, to stay filled up requires that we refuel every day in order to be a vessel of His love to others.

Take time today to get a healthy dose of God's love running smoothly in your tank.  Draw near to Him in your quiet time and allow His love to invigorate and energize you.  Become a vessel of honor; sanctified and prepared to be used for God's glory!

Funny that I came across this post today.  I was just reading last night, where Jesus had no where to rest because people were searching him out.  Even he needed a rest so why would we be any different.

Giving from an empty place gives emptiness.

Barbara!

Thanks for the post.  I do try to fill others with love.  Tonight at softball (I get competitive) I was not loving for a few inning.  We were making errors and I was getting very frustrated. I had to sit and prayer to invite God into my game.  It helped so much. I calmed down before I hurt anyone.

Hi Sandra: Great thought!  And thank you for your post -- Jesus gave and gave and even He needed rest.  So many times people forget that rest in Him is refreshing and needed.  I appreciate your visit! God bless you.  Barbara
