Marketing Mania - Who are you trying to represent anyway?

Who are you trying to represent anyway?

Men and woman alike whether they admit it or not are marketing themselves every day.  We tend to overlook the fact that in this world marketing plays a huge part in how others perceive our success or worse, a lack of it.  Why is it that we think that products we read about in fliers or hear on the radio are the only things marketed to us?  The truth is that we are our own marketing tool every day in how we dress, speak and what we share with others.  Whether we like it or not we in a constant dance of consumerism to present ourselves to the outside world.

Think about who you are trying to represent -- yourself or Christ?  As representatives of Christ are you comfortable speaking freely about Jesus without being over-concerned that someone will think you're a religious zealot?  Does your dress reflect modesty or modern trends?  Do you groom yourself with care knowing that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit?  Are people drawn to you by your words and thoughts that are tempered with love or do they gravitate toward you to hear coarse jokes or the latest office gossip?

Every day we have the choice to market ourselves as Believers in Jesus Christ.  The concept of self-marketing is too often ignored so perhaps we need to revisit this and change our thinking.  Consider intentionally marketing yourself by knowing your target market.  As Believers it should be for the lost.  Do as Jesus did and clothe yourself in humility, kindness, patience, purity, a welcoming smile, a tender gesture and love.

Very nice post, sister.......

I am featuring this in,"Christianity and Real Estate"
We have a RESPONSIBILITY to radiate the Lords LOVE
and reflect His Character...

Short dresses, revealing clothing, "Adult" jokes and gossip are NOT
becoming of a disciple of the Messiah......

(BTW ~~~ I have been waiting for more posts from you, Barb....
I can't do it ALL myself! woohoo!!)

Excellent exhortation, Barbara!

"Does your dress reflect modesty or modern trends?  Do you groom yourself with care knowing that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit?  Are people drawn to you by your words and thoughts that are tempered with love or do they gravitate toward you to hear coarse jokes or the latest office gossip?"

May I add one? Do people KNOW that you are a Christian by the way you conduct your business?

BTW thanks for turning me on to Bible Gateway!

Hi Wayne!  Thanks so much for your thoughts and post.  Imagine if Believers did ALL things as unto the Lord!  How wide would the smile be on God's face then? :)

I'm glad you enjoy the Bible Gateway too.  It is so rich with tools and information.  God bless you Wayne!  Barbara :)

Well...thanks for asking...my ministry is ANYTHING I can do
to encourage, edify, and build up the body of our Messiah...

Hence this group in AR.........

I am also in choir in church, and I am an Usher..... I have a mens cell group..... I have sung in a gospel group touring the eastern seaboard... I will be interviewing to join our churches worship and praise team this week.

I also witness and pray for everyone I come in contact with.... at work, out shopping or where ever...

I was a Licensed Minister for 15 years with the Church of God denomination, Cleveland Tenn.

I cut my spiritual teeth in the Assemblies of God for 5 years.... back in the early 1980s...

It has been quite a journey so far!!

Very cool Alex! I am a firm bbeliever that everyone has a ministry from their workplace to their neighborhoods.  Too often we forget that our existence on this earth is to serve God -- we are employed by Him.  The work we do, our careers, is a fringe benefit God bestows on us for the provisions of food, clothing, shelter etc.  Hats off to you Alex!  Barbara

Hi Barbara -- I was struck by your post because it's my hubby's everlasting message: we are ambassadors of Jesus Christ in all we do and say, in how we handle stress and praise, in how we react to others in crisis, in how we dress, and imporantly in the words that leak from our mouthsGod bless you, and thanks for the great message for believers!
