Barbara's Blog

Tonight's no title blog. :)

Within the past 5 days I had in front of me a choice to make -- one which seemed right, looked right and in other people's opinion, it was right.  Having walked with Jesus since April 1982, I have learned through trial after trial that without the peace of God, I'm headed for a fall or at the very least, a bumpy ride in whatever decision I have to make.

Tonight I began to feel weary from these past emotional and exhausting days which shredded my peace and created such turmoil within my spirit and soul that I couldn't sleep, think or concentrate.  After coming to terms with this issue and deciding to move on to what God has for me next, my flesh started weighing in on the "what-if's."  Did I do the right thing, make the right choice, truly process the terms involved, did I act hastily OR did I lose my sight of the straight and narrow path?

I was reminded of this on my walk tonight.  Looking ahead of my steps to see this path was a wonderful and gentle reminder to refocus my eyes on God's leading not the world's.  Staying on the straight and narrow path means to not deviate to the right or to the left of His perfect plan for my life.  Specifically, rather than be scared, to trust Him even more.

Everyone has the choice to trust God or to walk a crooked path which leads to disobedience [sin]. We all make this choice each day whether to trust God with every area of our life or not.  Some may walk the path of indecison, for another it may be a path of anger or holdng on to the pain of their past.  Whatever it is, Jesus wants us to walk the narrow way and keep our focus on Him.

I'm always amazed on my walks when I look up at the sky to see the wonder and majesty which He created.  It puts things in perspective for me and removes all doubt that God can do absolutely anything for me.  Tonight I felt the Lord show me through the clouds that although things look dark and all-encompassing around me, there is an opening that leads to life and safety in Him.

God can change our circumstances with a wave of His hand.  He can reverse hasty decisons with the blink of His eye.  He can mend relationships with one breath from His lips.  The Creator of the universe loves people and cares about every single one.  He listens to us because He loves us.

When we keep our focus on God and walk the straight path our minds become fixed on Him and the promises in His Word.  The devil is rendered powerless to taunt us, to create strife or to trip us up when we fix our eyes upon Jesus.  No matter what your situation may look like, or however dreary it may seem, the light of God is there to shine through when you seek Him in the secret place of His Presence.

Hey Barbara, well said and very nicely done. Enjoyed your views and the photographs added a nice perspective. Lancaster, I presume?

Hi Carol:  Yes, it is -- they were taken on our walk tonight.  When we got home, I took a picture of the walkway to our house -- blooming with pretty colors, full and vibrant bushes and foliage, rabbits running in the open field, kids playing and just having fun and I thought of how fortunate I am regardless of the circumstances. Love you and thanks!  Barbara :)

Hi Barbara -- great discourse and introspection.  I believe Jesus put what you said another way in John 10:9 -- "I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved."  To be sure, He is our gate and we the sheep who follow Him (and admire His leadership!).

Barbara: What a wonderful sharing of thoughts, feelings, pictures, and self. The calming influence of these has cooled me off today when I was rushing at 100mph! I will stop looking down and start looking up today. God Bless You!
