Want a piece of Me?

I love it when I hear proverbial words regarding the peace of God.  How many times in scripture does He mention His peace?  Actually, 429 times in the King James version - with the first occurrance in Genesis 15:15, "Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age."NKJV

Not only does God want you to have a real piece of Him [His love, His Presence, His Spirit], He also desires to freely and abundantly give you His precious peace.  For myself, I have one and only one way of physically verifying and defiing His peace at any given moment in my life.   When my spirit is at ease and content, when there are no signs of anxiety, when I can close my eyes at night and wake up fresh and alive in His presence even in the midst of indecision and strife, then I know I am in His peace.  I can rest in His love that buffers me from the storms of life.  No signs of aging or sleepless nights dare settle upon me as the countenace of His contentment blushes my face with the color of His love.

This week has been a terrific time of testing -- to the point of falling numb and oblivious to the spit-fire fast occurrances and onslaught of opinions from people wanting me to embrace a change in career.  Many offered their opinions in fact, all of them did.  Yet, until this evening my spirit remained in turmoil.  After leaving my office at 7PM, the Lord placed a woman's name on my heart - "Carolyn", He said.  When I spoke with her tonight she uttered the very thoughts that I knew I felt within -- "but you have no peace, Barbara."  She was correct.  Without His peace I make no decisions regardless of how good the circumstance appears to be.  Period.

So thank you Carolyn for being the catalyst I desperately needed to once again find "the peace that surpasses all understanding" -- the benchmark of whether or not I am in God's will or whether my soul is wrestling with Him - again.  Remember Jacob?

Many times what seems like God's perfect plan can be disguised as a set-up for missing the true blessing coming our way.  The devil is a pro at devising events that seem to answer our prayers.  And in this process we have to be able to distinguish His peace which precedes a blessing or the world's piece which produces a bombshell.

Our only true peace comes from relationship with the Prince who authored it!

GBY!  Barbara :)

Wow Carol:  Thank you for your expression of love and attentiveness to His Spirit this week.  I don't own Nike's but I can still run when I cast all of my cares upon Him. You are favored and loved by God and for those two reasons alone, abundantly blessed.  I pray for plenty of His rain to fall upon your day today and everyday.  I'll connect with you later.  Barbara :)

Barbara, I think many people miss what the concept of peace is all about, and you have captured what I believe peace to be. Great post.

Barbara, So true, sometimes you want something so bad & you think it's His plan because you do when in fact it's not.  It can be difficult, but it can be conquered!

Thank you for sharing,

Hi Steve:  I must tell you I wrestled with a major decision this week and had nothing but turmoil in my spirit with this issue.  I never want to miss the mark by walking out in my flesh for what may seem to be His plan when in disguise it is a set-up from satan.  Many, many blessings are sent your way today as well.  I appreciate your thoughts and faithfulness in visiting my blog nd thanks so much for your post. Barbara :)
