Every time of think of Hollywood I consider the many people living in the spotlight of others. For every Hollywood star there are many who keep the ball rolling in their lives. Let's take a look at their possible entourage. There are spouses or a ‘significant other', an agent, personal assistant, hairdresser, wardrobe designer, nail tech of course, masseuse and perhaps even a cook...to name just a few.
These people all live in the spotlight of the one who takes or demands the attention. They work to support his or her efforts on the big screen. And that is how they get paid. Problem is, an actor or actress will one day forfeit a role to a younger up and coming newbee AND they will age - rendering the attention of the above mentioned ‘background staff' virtually useless.
But what do they have to show for being in another's spotlight? Perhaps some actually own a home - forget the monthly rent check, maybe they enjoy a fancy dinner party here and there and most likely they are not driving a beat up Chevette.
As for me, I'd rather be in living in God's spotlight. The rewards of this choice far outweigh the immediate accumulation of the ‘niceties' in life. Look friends, I myself enjoy fine dining and who doesn't like the ability of owning their own home? My point is that as believers we are to mimic the One who has the spotlight - Christ Jesus.
I never want to just call myself a believer. Anyone can do that. In fact, most people claim to be Christians. I want to live in His spotlight so that the world can experience the true love of God through the work which He has done in my own life.
Abiding in the love of God and mirroring His character through serving others, our family and community puts God in the spotlight for all to see. Our eternal reward comes when we stand before the Father and He says, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." For this alone is determination enough to live every trial, every tribulation and every victory with the assurance that God is with us.
What a privilege to be called sons and daughters of the Most High God and what an honor to be His hands and feet in the world today! Choose to live in His spotlight every day and you will become a beacon of hope to all who pass by your way.
