RELATIONSHIPS 101.

  - All of our relationships must be given over to Christ in order that we have no dependency upon anyone or anything that is apart from Him.  To maintain or retain any dependency upon those things we will eventually be led out of God's will.  By staying in God's Word, growing spiritually and being used continually to a greater degree by God, "strange" things begin to happen.

Much to my dismay, people began to be off cut from my life by God.  My prayer to the Father was and still is, "Lord, if this relationship does not glorify You and if I am in something that will eventually lead to pain or disobedience, then Lord cut it off and please take every emotion attached with it."  I can say with 100% accuracy He did this for me.  Never was I left with disappointment or feelings of loss -- He just severed the relationships.

I watched as people who were not of like mind and heart with me begin to be removed or to remove themselves from my presence.  But why does this happen?

Simply put, on their part they will feel uncomfortable around the presence of the Holy Spirit within us and, on satan's part, it is a persecution against us through them in order to "sidetrack" us from the narrow path of the Father's perfect will through compromise.  WOW!

To stop continual persecutions against us stay in the place of obedience -- abiding in faith and love.  Have no regard for anything that is apart from Christ.  Do not retain any attchment to the things that are seen through the five physical senses rather than the things which are not seen. [2 Corinthians 4:18].

If, by my own choice, I do and leave the place of abiding with God in the "inner chamber" then a deep and thorough repentence is necessary and will be forthcoming.

GBY!  Barbara :)

Good evening Barbara -- very nicely put. It is interesting how relationships mutate during our lifetime. One never knows what's around the corner until a person actually gets there. I am looking forward to seeing, hearing and learning new things in my pursuit of Christ Jesus. Christ is coming very very soon and I think people are so used to hearing it that they really don't hear it and have very little incentive to believe. I believe...  I believe every thing He said is coiming IS coming, therefore I am seeking, trying to learn and waiting for Him. I have a lot of faults and I think I let them distract me from what it is I am supposed to be doing. I have lots of attachments I need to take inventory of... I know I don't need all of them, but they are rather comfortable and sometimes quite convenient. You have given me something to think about and another item to add to my list of things I must eventually start to do today... :) Warmest regards, C.

Hi Carol:  Thanks for your post and I hear you! I have learned that when relationships are maintained for convenience sake, for me, they most often lead to much drama, senseless talk and a poor investment of my time in things which did not glorify God.  The Lord spoke loudly to me in this area and He began to help me with my relationships.  In ministry I meet many people and love regardless. But in my close connections those which did not abide in His love or share in the passion of worshipping God through speech, behavior and life choices, these relationships had to go.  God began the process of dissecting them from my life.  It is said that we become like the people we associate with hence; I prefer to spend 99.9% of my time and then some with the Lord.

You are a woman of God who is pursuing Him and that is an exciting place to be. He will meet you where He means the most to you -- your heart.  Blessings to you and we'll talksoon.  Barbara :)

My hubbie is crazy about cheesecake. Sounds like a nice place to visit. :)

Carol:  LOL -- I think I have to get down to Inner Harbor -- btw; that's a fantastic place to visit along the east coast on your way down south. Barbara :)

Hmm... sounds very promising. Maybe you could suggest a few Bed & Breakfasts or a nice recreational spot to lay our heads. (The closer to the cheesecake, the better...) :-D

This can be difficult to do, but you are absolutely right. When we lose God as the center, things start to crumble.

Carol:  Too funny! There are awesome places in the harbor -- you can 'google' it -- I lived within driving distance at the time.  Cheescake is ALWAYS good girl!!! Barbara :)

Hi Liz:  It certainly can be challenging, this I agree with. Thank you so much for visiting and for your post. Have an awesome day! Barbara :)

Barbara: I have had the pleasure of watching my personal relationship with my wife blossom and unfold into a truly deep and abundant love, but the beginning was when God was allowed to be the center of the universe for us. My wife had a very shallow and transient faith, but was a very spiritual woman.

A breast cancer survivor and single mother of two, we became friends and ultimately married. Her intuitive spirit now meshed with a deep faith has made her an excellent life partner.

By the way, sometimes I wonder if cheesecake is like an apple fritter?   : )  There's two common themes in your blog; both delicious.

You go girl!

-Pete

Hey Pete -- congrats on finding such a great life partner, especially on finding one who loves God just as much as you do. That is so cool. Additionally, I agree 100% with you, Barbara is sweet and that certainly shines through.

Barbara, I will Google it... but one of these days your AR friends are going to have to get together and plan an annual outing so we can all meet and greet each other and eat some of that cheesecake! Over coffee of course... (P.S. Bring your bibles people... Barbara happens to be an excellent teacher.)

Hi Pete:  Wow, too cool!  You are blessed indeed!

So often I think we forget to realize the many ways God touches our lives.  Relationships that bless us are such  a way.

Just this morning as I was pondering over some personal issues, I headed out to my prayer group when God reminded me of the many people suffering as a result through the floods in the midwest.  Then I saw a man on a 3-wheel bike cycling using his arms -- he had no legs.  My now insignifant issues were put in perspective -- fast! ... for which I could only raise my hands and thank God for all He does in my life.

Thanks for the post, I appreciate your thoughts brother!  Have an awesome evening.  Barbara :)

Hi Carol:  Yes, I was thinking of organizing an East Coast AR reunion or union, so to speak, here in Lancaster, PA.  I'll keep you updated on this.

And yes!! Bibles are not optional, they are mandatory!!  :) -- time to teach and learn as we enjoy the company of our brothers and sisters in Christ -- our true family.

I appreciate you Carol and continue to pray for me.  I am asking God to bring forth my 'helpmate', whomever that may be.  It's time and I covet your agreement in prayer on this. Barbara :)

Dearest Barbara, you are in my prayers... Love, C.

"My prayer to the Father was and still is, "Lord, if this relationship does not glorify You and if I am in something that will eventually lead to pain or disobedience, then Lord cut it off and please take every emotion attached with it."

Wonderful Prayer Barbara!  Even Jesus taught the disciples to not let dust gather on their feet in those places/with people who did not receive his word!

your prayer asks in advance!

Awesome post

Sincerely,

Grace

Mornin' Grace -- what an astute observation. I read it, enjoyed it, but failed to realize she was asking for this in advance because I was focused on the relationship aspects and not the spiritual warfare involved... Pre-emptive Strike Prayer. I have got to get me some of those! I've been praying more towards the reactionary response (already happened "help me" or "fix this" Lord) type. Enjoyed your commentary Grace, it was most helpful. Barbara, as always, enjoyed your post.

Hi Grace: Indeed, to ask in advance for His safeguarding at all times. I have learned to not wait until the blizzard arrives rather to have the snowplow loaded and ready to go when it does.

God bless you and thank you for your thoughts.  Barbara :)
