Barbara's Blog

Looking for a man? Put on a dress. Looking for God's plan, put on His Word.

The world is so inundated with magazine articles and "how-to" books for women on the art of attracting a man.  Add to the mixture the well-intentioned friend's advice and of course wisdom from mom that today's woman has her compass pointing south most of the time!  Figuratively speaking.

Sad is the day when a woman equates her physical attraction and choice of dress with the hidden, yet often not unnoticed, meaning behind it all.  I venture to say that some women who put on a dress can, and in fact will, attract the male gender in some form or fashion (excuse the pun).  If it's working for her she will continue with this odyssey until or unless something changes.  This is the way of the world and the way worldly women behave.  For the woman of God -- (not to be confused with the "godly woman" i.e; one who appears to be holy and righteous) she desires to wear the aroma of Christ Jesus and His Word.

 - Women attract a man based on what is in his heart.

 - Men? What is in your heart?  The world or The Word?

I sit every day at a cafe where my ministry has been since 2002 and frequently men approach me asking about scripture or commenting about God.  It isn't because I'm dressed in the latest fashion carrying a Gucci handbag, it's because I wear His Word daily.  In front of me is my Bible, a tablet for journaling and my John 3:16 cup filled with coffee.  I could be in jeans, wearing sunglasses and no makeup -- it doesn't matter.  Men are attracted to a woman who is different -- one who stands out from the ordinary.  -

- Jesus should not just be the ice breaker when conversing with a date, He should be the  main topic.

I believe that there is a place within every man's heart that truly wants to meet a woman who loves God.  One who is intently seeking after Him, digesting His Word and focused only on the white and red letters in her Bible.  When a woman sets herself apart to be with Jesus amazing things happen.  Allow God's Word to be the magnet that draws a man of God to you.  Sincerely desire to know Him more this way, every day.

"A woman's heart should be so lost in God that a man needs to seek Him in order to find her."  Barbara Ries
